What's on my wrist?

Keine Ahnung, ob sich jemand schon so einen Post ausgedacht hat, aber ich persönlich finde es unheimlich interessant, wie viel die Hände über eine Person verraten. Da ich eine Schule besuche, die wie fast alle in Südafrika eine Schuluniform hat, muss man sich (offiziell) auf drei Schmuckstücke beschränken. Uhr und Armband sowie Ohrringe sind bei mir immer dabei; die Ringe kommen nach der Schule dazu. Vor allem der dünne silberne Ring bedeutet mir sehr viel, da er ein Geschenk meines Vaters an meine Mutter war, als sie ungefähr so alt waren wie ich jetzt. Ich liebe Dinge, die eine Geschichte haben, erst recht so eine schöne. Ich weiß gar nicht mehr, woher der türkisene Ring ist; ich glaube allerdings von einem Markt und so einen wollte ich damals schon ewig. Die Uhr ist aus Johannesburg und das Armband hat Mama für mich gemacht. Den dunkellilanen Nagellack finde ich total geil, schwarz ist mir persönlich etwas zu krass aber der ist perfekt und aus einer alten Weihnachts-LE von Essence.

Ach ja, und das Kreuzchen male ich mir immer dorthin, wenn ich mich an etwas bestimmtes erinnern möchte :)

I have no idea, if someone already thought of such a post, but I find it incredibly interesting to see how much hands say about a person. Because I visit a school which has a school uniform, just like almost any other school in South Africa, I have to limit myself to three pieces of jewellery. A watch and bracelet as well as earrings are a must for me nevertheless; after school, I like adding some rings for personality as well. Especially the silver ring means a lot to me. It was a present my father gave to my mother when they were about my age. I love things that tell a story, even more if it is such a great one. I don't remember from where I got the turquoise ring, but I think it was from a market and I had been dreaming of one like it for a long time. The watch is from Johannesbrg and my mom made the bracelet for me. I think the deep purple nail polish is really cool; often black seems to harsh a color and this is just perfect. I bought it a few years back from an Essence-LE.
Oh, and the cross on my hands just means that I need to remember something :)

Optimismus

Meiner Meinung nach hat man selbst den größten Einfluss auf sein eigenes Glück. Wenn man sich vornimmt, glücklich zu sein, sich von unwichtigen Dingen nicht zu sehr runterziehen zu lassen und nach vorne zu schauen, dann hat man ein viel entspannteres und erfüllteres Leben. So gerne ich daher durch und durch eine Optimistin wäre, so schwer fällt es mir, das, wovon ich so überzeugt bin, selbst in die Tat umzusetzen. Es gibt Phasen, in denen es mir so gar nicht gelingen mag. Oft hilft es jedoch, sich einen Moment lang darüber klar zu werden, für wen und was man im Leben alles dankbar sein sollte und kann. Wie man so passend sagt: "Don't sweat the small stuff!" 

I believe that every individual has the biggest influence on his or her own happiness. When you resolve to be happy, to not let yourself be impacted by unimportant things, you have a much more relaxed and fulfilled life. As much as I'd thus like to be an out-and-out optimist, it often is quite difficult for me to implement what I so deeply believe in. There are phases in which it is seemingly impossible. However, it often helps to calm down for a moment and think about what and whom you can be grateful in your life. We take things for granted much too often. And as the saying goes: "Don't sweat the small stuff!"

Südafrika

Seit nunmehr etwas über anderthalb Jahren darf ich dieses wunderschöne Land mein Zuhause nennen. Ein Land voller Facetten, Farben, Menschen, Kulturen, Sprachen, Geschichte, Erinnerungen und Vergessen, Lebensfreude und Herzlichkeit. Diese Bilder sind von Kapstadt und Umgebung. 

Since a little over one and a half years, I can proudly call this beautiful country my home. A country full of different facets, colors, people, cultures, languages, history, memories and forgetting, joie de vivre and warmth. These photographs are of Cape Town and surroundings.

Warum dieses Blog?

Weil ich das Schreiben liebe. Weil ich im letzten Schuljahr (im November habe ich mein Abi in der Tasche!) eigentlich eine Million andere Dinge zu tun hätte, aber die Abwechslung brauche. Weil ich meine Hobbies auch mal auf andere Art erleben und mit anderen teilen möchte. Weil ich in letzter Zeit sehr inspiriert wurde und es gar nicht erwarten kann, mit dem Bloggen richtig anzufangen. Auf ein neues Abenteuer!

Because I love to write. Because I have a million other things to do seen as I am currently in my last year of school (I will have my Matric in November!, but need the diversion. Because I'd like to experience my hobbies on a different level and share them with others. Because I have been really inspired in the last days and because I can't wait to start blogging. Cheers to a new adventure!
